How To Become A Respected And Trusted Team Leader

What does one need to do to become a good team leader? How can one earn the respect and trust of the members of the team? I am sure that the majority of people are fully aware as to just how important the role of a team leader which is why I have asked the above questions. I have asked a number of my friends what they thought were the answers to these questions:

I was speaking to a managing director of a well known DVD replication about this very subject only last week. He stated that a respected manager should lead the team from the front and be seen to be in charge. They should therefore have excellent time management skills, be a good communicator, be well dressed and have a positive approach to life and any tasks that are undertaken.

Another friend who offers a stammering course in the UK had previously spent time in a management role within a large financial organisation. Approachable, fair, honest and trustworthy were just some of the words he used to describe what he believed were required.

You should not ask a member of the team to do something that you would not personally do yourself stated Ian who makes it possible for people to make cheap calls. I personally believe that a team leader should be prepared to muck in to show that they are also a fully working member of the team and not just a delegator. They should also offer you full support whenever something goes wrong whether it be a work related issue or a personal issue.

Well there is quite a lot to take in; I hope that you team leaders have learnt a thing or two.

Without a respected team leader and management in place the companies profitibilty is in danger of being compromised.

I hope these tips have provided you with the necessary information to become a professional and successful team leader; remember at the end of the day we can only try our best.
