Time for an office makeover?

Do you wish you didn’t have to get up and go to work every morning? Are you sick of spending your days in a stuffy office, counting down the minutes until it’s time to go home again? OK, so if the world was ideal we wouldn’t have to go to work. We’d all be living a life of luxury, with unlimited funds and not a care in the world. But let’s face it, that’s unlikely to happen any time soon. If anything, the economic recession means that we’re all having to spend even more time at work just to make ends meet.

So what can we do about it? How can we improve a situation we can’t change? Well, for a start an office shouldn’t be a place that makes you feel depressed. It should be a comfortable space where you can feel relaxed, at ease and able to work without feeling like the walls are closing in. If that’s the way you feel about going in to work, maybe it’s time you gave your office a makeover.

Even large offices can be depressing if they’re cluttered and badly organised. Offices are too often packed full of unnecessary furniture that gets in the way, and desks cluttered with machinery that could be better kept elsewhere. You might think you have no alternative but office suppliers have all sorts of useful office furniture that can help you to maximise your space and get your office looking sleek, comfortable and modern at the same time.

Take some time to work out exactly what you want from your workspace – do you need a bigger desk, more storage, a new filing system? Do you need new seating, or storage for your printer/copier and other machinery? Perhaps you need to completely rearrange your office to maximise the space better. Whatever problems you have in your workspace, there will be a solution to suit you.

Think carefully about the individual needs of the people who will be working in the space. You can get a huge range of ergonomically designed office furniture purposely made to make staff more comfortable at work. Ergonomic workstations and seating are designed to help reduce the injuries that office workers can often suffer from, such as lower back pain and RSI. This means staff will be generally healthier and happier, and take less sick days with problems that could have been avoided.

Make sure that your new office is as uncluttered as possible, that everyone has sufficient storage so desks aren’t messy and that the furniture is arranged in the best way to maximise what space you have. This will make your office feel a lot more open and comfortable, and you’ll feel much happier about spending so much time there. And you won’t feel like the walls are closing in!

You may be thinking it all sounds like a lot of effort, and maybe a bit expensive for a space you’re only working in, it’s not like you’re doing up your home! But just think about it. How much happier would you me knowing you were coming in each day to a sleek, uncluttered, aesthetically pleasing space, ergonomically designed to accomodate you and your needs. Not to mention healthy, happy workers make for a more productive environment – look at it as a business investment!
